We provide kinesio taping services to help support your recovery.
At Hampstead, Sneads Ferry, and Topsail Physical Therapy, our goal is to provide the best possible physical therapy so that you can enjoy the best quality of life, and that means we use a variety of techniques and treatments to give you the robust support you need. One technique that we use as part of our physical therapy involves placing kinesiology tape on the affected areas to support the muscles, tendons, and joints, and improve your overall mobility. Kinesiology is the study of the mechanics of body movements, and this treatment is also called kinesio taping.
In our experience, many people assume that kinesio taping is the same thing as using athletic tape, but in reality there are some important differences between these two products. Yes, both types of tape provide support, but athletic tape is designed to limit motion, while kinesio taping is designed to make motion easier and less painful, as well as to prevent muscle spasms. Athletic tape is relatively stiff, while kinesio tape is flexible, and moves when you move. As you move around, the interaction between the tape and the skin, muscle, and connective tissue underneath will help increase circulation of blood and lymph fluid, promoting healing.
Our team wants to help you achieve your physical therapy goals, and we have the right experience to create a personalized plan to let you do that. If you are interested in the benefits of kinesio taping, we encourage you to give us a call to find out more.
